Putting a car on the market is often hit or miss. especially when you're trying to go out of your comfort zone. Just think about the major failure that is the Toyota GT86. Toyota, a perennial creator of beige mobiles partnered with hot pants automaker Subaru to make something exciting, well, we all the rest of the story, but that's not the point. The Gt86 is not a ridiculous car, but the Kia Amanti certainly is !
Kia's first attemtp at a luxury car was the mid 2000's Amanti, also known as Opirus in other markets.
It's was an hilarious mixture of a Lincoln Town Car, a Jaguar Type-E and a Mercedes E-class. THe whole thing was far from homogeneous and the car became subject to many mockeries.
So opponauts, what car is the most ridiculous in your opinions ?

Dodge La Femme?

the VW CC. Pointless when you have a Passat on the market as well
, unless you have a thing against headroom

But it's a very good looking car though.

I'm torn but probably the Phaeton.

Far from ridiculous.
That was the subject of one of my first ever Forgotten Classics articles.

Don't you mean the Jaguar S-Type? My nomination goes to the Aztek. Nobody asked for a camping vehicle on the platform of a car.

Two of my next-door neighbors have them. They're great looking cars. I don't think I'd ever do a Passat as long as the CC is on the market.

I agree with you - check out what I wrote back in 2007 . Kia has made up for that car since then, but ... ugh.

For the most part, I find most SUV's ridiculous if you don't have a lot of people or stuff that you need to move around a lot. Nothing wrong with the cars themselves, but the need to have one just for a one person commute befuddles me.
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:13 |

Why's it gotta have Maryland tags? My state has such awful taste at times. And there's a lot of these around.
And guess what? I've even ridden in an Aztek once. It was awful.
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:14 |

disagree, strongly. That is more utility than 80% of vehicles that have utility in their segment name
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:15 |

no there is a point to this. To show the world you have either the biggest or smallest manhood
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:16 |

Blame Wikipedia on the Maryland tags.
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:16 |

While that is true, it is still ridiculous, just stare at it for a while.
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:18 |

my dad traded a 750iL in for one, I have done plenty of staring (and shit talking about it). After a while it grows on you
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:18 |

true, but buy that line of thinking anything above a small compact is ridiculous. Especially anything with high horse power and sporting pretensions.
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:20 |

Understandable. It's one of those that makes a lot of sense to some people, and zero sense to others (like me). But for your question, it's one of the first things that comes to my mind!
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:20 |

I blame GM for making the car that forced Wikipedia to have an article on it.
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:22 |

Not exactly. I get that not everyone wants a small commuter car, but just the huge number of people driving around in them seems...well...ridiculous.
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:22 |

I actually don't hate the car. It will be a cult car.
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:23 |
|
I don't hate it. Also, what would possess someone to trade a 750 in for an Aztek?
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:25 |

yeah, but again wouldn't you call one dude in a mid size or full size car just as ridiculous? I mean all that space to haul just one person around. the need to have a big car just for that is just as silly as using an SUV.

#2: Mitsuoka Le Seyde (based on an S15 Silvia)

and have a blatant misunderstanding of proportion!

Not as much, really. There's just something that seems so....I don't knwo, excessive about the SUV situation.

Theres only one Amanti for sale in all of alberta but it almost looks like a good deal.
2009 Amanti 3.8L 263hp with only 53000 km's for 10K. considering it was kia's flagship(I know that doesn't mean much) I would almost call that nice price.

It seems ridiculous if you come from the mindset of "what do I need most of the time," but even a 250 motorbike is overkill from that perspective. Most of those people are looking for a car that is comfortable, practical, and powerful. There are not many options aside from trucks and SUVs. Most automakers are pretending that putting leather on a sports car makes it a luxury car.
![]() 03/19/2015 at 15:46 |

Ok so it's nothing to do with the size, power or capability of said SUV. You simply do not like them. Why not just say that then? Because other wise I feel like some one like me for instance would be more aggravating. I drive a 300 hp full size sedan, the literally is designed only to seat 4 people. not 5, not 6, 4 and only 4 in a full size sedan. that seems much more silly than one person in a suv that could actually car more for roughly the same size.

Such a nice car with a terrible badge.
Doesn't make sense, It's like dressing up in a Tuxedo and going barefoot.

Looks a lot less ridiculous than the kia.

Frequently cited as a "how to do pandering wrong" exercise. Special edition Dodge, in pink, with makeup accessories, etc. etc.

Back in 2006 we lived in SoHo, before we moved the Upper West Side, and one of those Kias was permanently parked on Sullivan Street. It created a visceral hatred in me.

Indeed !
The guy that designed this car should be hanged for crime against humanity

I saw one of these the other day and was thinking about this, but I forgot it was a Kia. I was thinking it was a Hyundai.

I kinda think the 300c was almost as bad when it first came out though.

I can't say I never had one of those. I was actually a great car I quite liked it.

Yeah, but it looks like they were trying to copy Rolls Royce as much as it looked like Kia was trying to copy Mercedes.

No worse than someone commuting in a fancy sports car that never sees anything else.
